Gruene, Texas is one of the most iconic destination spots in Texas. From concerts at Gruene Hall or Floating the River – Gruene is a quaint little town that is booming with tourism. It’s truly a place we love to call home. In the past 10 years – wedding venues have exploded in the Gruene area, but a fan favorite of ours is The Chandelier of Gruene. We love that Abbey and Spencer picked The Chandelier to host their “destination wedding” for their guests. Most of their family and guests came in from Louisiana to celebrate the couple. We love how Abbey made sure to incorporate plenty of personal touches to their special day, and also made their day a true experience for their guests! This colorful Gruene Wedding is one for the books!
A Colorful Spring Palette
The first place we start when planning the design of a wedding day is your color palette. The palette truly sets the tone for the whole day and makes a huge impact on lots of decisions you will make down the line. Abbey picked a color palette of light dusty blue – with pops of fun colors: peach, yellow, pink, blue and white. This is one of my very favorite palettes to work with and love all the ways we incorporated it throughout the day.
Outdoor Open Air Chapel
One of my very favorite features at The Chandelier of Gruene is their stunning outdoor Chapel. I love how when you walk in the doors, you truly feel like you’re walking into a church. The large windows and stunning Chandelier bring it all together. A lot of our couples still want that “church wedding” feel and The Chandelier gives you just that.
For Abbey’s wedding, we added ground florals down the aisle of the chapel which is something we haven’t done at The Chandelier yet. We LOVED how it turned out! It brought more color and vibrance to the chapel – and as I always say – we love pieces that can be repurposed! The aisle pieces got moved inside to the stage and cake stands and made a huge impact on the day even after the ceremony!
Colorful Guest Experience
I love a good guest experience at a wedding – from gifts, photo booths or interactive seating charts. I love anything that gives the guest a “WOW!” moment and leaves a lasting impression. This is a fabulous way to set your wedding a part from others. Some of Abbey’s experiences were their custom drink charms with their monogram, custom trucker hats that said “From Texas With Love,” and their film camera photo wall. The guests loved being able to snap photos all night, and everyone took home a trucker hat, including me! And I must say, it’s a favorite hat of mine, and I think about their wedding every time I wear it!
Hanging Floral Boxes are a MUST!
Another favorite feature The Chandelier offers is their custom built, hanging floral boxes. These boxes can be added on to your package at The Chandelier and they are one of my most favorite things to flower in the venue! The boxes hang in the air above the tables and guests, and are a fantastic way to add color and dimension to the space! I love how they can be seen from so many of the photos throughout the reception. The boxes were the perfect addition to this colorful Gruene wedding day. Check out the boxes we did for Kristina and Sean’s wedding day at The Chandelier!
Colorful Touches Throughout The Day
While flowers are always the best way to add color to a wedding day, there are plenty of other areas we can bring pops of color in to make a big statement! Some of my favorite ways Abbey brought in color throughout the day was through their checkered dance floor designed by Scarlet Rose Collective. The colored taper candles we used on tables, the colored napkin linens and of course – all the colorful florals!
The Sweetest Couple and Family
The weddings that make the biggest impact on me aren’t the ones with the biggest floral budget or the most stunning flowers we’ve ever done. They are always the ones with the sweetest couples and families to work with. Abbey + Spencer’s families felt like home. Like I’ve known them my whole life and we could all be the best of friends. I could only dream of having families as wonderful as theirs every single week. But most importantly – every Bride deserves a flower-loving Dad like Wayne!
The Icing on The Cake
While the cakes were stunning and delicious – the actual icing on the cake was the surprise Flash Mob Dance Abbey’s mom and friends surprised her with. Abbey is an incredible dancer and dance teacher. She has worked for her mothers dance studio for years, and dancing is such a huge part of her life. Her mom had the fantastic idea to put together a flash mob dance and have all of the girls who dance with them learn it for the wedding. After some secret texts with Blaize and lots of YouTube watching to learn the dance, all of the girls hit the dance floor and totally surprised Abbey and Spencer!
A Colorful Gruene Wedding Day
We have done countless weddings at The Chandelier of Gruene – but Abbey and Spencer’s will forever hold such a special place in my heart and mind. From the incredible vendors who made it all happen – to the amazing families we got to work with. This was truly a wedding I never want to forget.
